So, it was a real thing.... W.A.S.P in Luleå
W.A.S.P celebrates their 30 year anniversary with the “30 years of thunder tour” And they came here… It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. I arrived at seven o’clock and spent around two hours inside looking at people and waiting.
Badmouth was supose to be the opening act. I never heard of this band before and to be honest…. don’t care to know them.
At approximately 9:10 W.A.S.P showed up on stage and it was a huge DISAPPOINTMENT!
After sitting through a couple of their songs I asked myself “ what the fuck am I doing here?” The sound was mediocre and lame. Though all was not lost…. After the third song came on all hope was restored. The song ''The Real Me'' was awesome. It was an hour and a half of pure kick ass rock and
I’m sad that I couldn’t just live in that moment forever. Whatever, it is how it is.
I don’t know where to begin in recounting my experience and what I liked about his concert… One good thing was that they showed music videos. They also played the song “Forever Free” with an electric guitar which is normally played acoustically. I didn’t really mind the slight change. In fact, I don’t recall him changing guitars at all during the show…
I guess that’s all I really have to say about it…
Gig was split in 3 parts
1 - best of 80's
2 -30minutes of Crimson Idol
3 - Blind in Texas
The 80’s part was missing some of my favorite songs but that’s alright.
Show No Mercy, Balcrusher, Restles Gypsy, Im Alive, Easy Livin' (Uriah heep cover)
Rebel In The F.D.G.
Crimson Idol’s set list was awesome, just perfect… I mean, I really can’t complain. Only down side was that it was short lived. It’s impossible to play all of their songs in a half hour though I felt they played their best songs so I was pretty impressed.
“Goodbye America” from Still Not Black Enough (1995) is awesome song, I also liked “Black Forever” they’re both from the same album.
My dream is to hear W.A.S.P’s ‘‘Dying For The World'' album. Unfortunately, it’s a dream that will never come true. It’s been my favorite W.A.S.P album since the very first time I heard it back in 2003 ...It’s so awesome that I cannot sum of the words to better describe how great it is. Its untouchable. Let’s leave it at that. Epic even!
Knowing song lyrics halped me bang all the gig and sing whit a band
Before I the set lists I leave you with this question:
Why do people show up at these gigs, is it to make an appearance, to be cool, to get drunk or listen to music?

Iced Earth In Luleå
I wrote it for some other site, it was rejected. So I publish it here, otherwise it was wasted time to wrote it , so I publish it how I wrote for some site ;)
Thank's Mel for correcting spelling n grammer.
INFO:
Luleå kalaset is a Luleå city festival what has been taking place since 1996(If I remember correctly). It’s a 4 days festival in Central Park with live music, drinks, fun, attractions,
food and fun.
Wednesday and Thursday are for free, but Friday and Saturday there is an entrance fee.
Many live artists play there, some known, some local and unknown, mixed with many styles, a dancing tent, blues tent, and so on.
Intro:
I arrived in town at approximately in 19:00 (Saturday) and my goal was see Iced Earth(band was not headliner). Before the fun starts I was wandering around
from one side to another and backwards many times as possible, hoping to see some familiar faces and find some friends(steering to girls )
I saw maybe 3 people what I know from towns and 3 later on Iced Earth, so lil disappointment, I thought that number be bigger.
Also I was disappointed with entrance prices SEK550, + all food expenses’ (no drinks this time, (personal reasons))
Such price is expensive for me, only to see Iced earth , + some food and extra SEK 100 bus ticket back home(what usually cost SEK 30 something)
Lil empty pocket and hungry for music I start moving onto main stage where Bonnie Tyler, Iced earth and Dead By April was playing, but I stopped
near metal tent.
Beyond Eon - A local band from Luleå that plays some modern rock, I saw their just last song and cant say much about their music, because I’m not familiar with it
but live it was heavy and they try make it heavy.
An Abstract Illusion - Band from Luleå/Boden/Jokkmokk , band members say Dead Metal Going Totally Wrong
I saw almost all the show and it was awesome. It felt like band mix of BM and DM roots when they try to get lil melodic tech and going a bit melancholy.
Band all was dressed in 'classic'' t shirts old Emperor, Ulver, Arcturus and so on and keyboard parts was those from the Edge of sanity album ''The Spectral Sorrows'' last song on album
was there.
Band demo was available for free and its pretty awesome, much better live, as you can feel the vocals but it was hard to get since I don’t know lyrics, and did not
understand what band was singing about. It seems band likes to do long songs and big instrumental parts between singing parts. Works good live and in studio.
Machine - I saw only the soundchek and some songs, pretty aggressive thrash in old Slayer style and when I saw the guy I thought it was Kerry King without a beard(seriously)
Not bad for live band, I wondered how it would be after studio release.
Slowgate - metal/core something, when the band started I decide to leave, not my cup of tea.
Alloy - A new HM band from Piteå, I’ll tell about their history. How all starts is all guys are in their 40's and well the band simply played metal that they grew up with and the band demo ''The Path so Frequently Trodden'' is a pretty awesome masterpiece.
Made in North, pretty good, I liked it very much. In veil of 80's sound but not just a cover but original material, same band was live, simply kick ass. All was perfect, seems like the band has been around 10 - 20 years not simply 2012, but I don’t know the musician background anyway, simply the best.
Bonney Tayler - Well maybe not MS type of artist but I decide check her out. I was far from stage, saw her only on big screen, old folks were there seeing a childhood idol on stage. She wasn’t bad, her vocals were better with instrument sound and she seems lost in her whisky drowned voice when she sings, but it’s not gone when she talks. I like her live better than how she sounds in the studio. Watching her videos on VH1 Classic ... 80's fashion didn’t fit in and even at about 60 she still looks good :)
ICED EARTH - This is why I was there, Iced earth are killer live and when they did sound check, all seemed to be OK. When band start playing the 1st song though, the bass was too loud and the drums didn’t fit in. The drums were fixed very quickly but the bass guitar wasn’t fixed for another 2 songs. Maybe I’m a retard and can’t hear very well ??? First I think I saw the band is ''old school'' and used a old fashion sound, simple cable plugged in guitar and delivering sound to amps.
Not many bands do it nowadays a ''cult'' band Nightwish use modern transmitters and those old school think is what keeps metal spirit alive, the rest is simply music.
I wish show was longer and I realy was dispaointed, thay did not play Birth of the Wicket .. other songs what they play was Wolf, Angel Holocaust, I Died For You, Melancholy(Holy martyr),
Watching Over Me, Damien, V, Anthem .. I can not remember 2 opening songs and they closeed a gig with Iced Earth.
Also there was not so many ppl listeing, for such band, maybe because band also played in Falun, Oulu, but still I was expected more people in audience
Some came take a look and left, but maybe 400 - 600 listened to the whole show (well most were already wasted and drunk, at disco tents and alcohol tents, not many came for music).
My goal was only music in the evening (+ see friends)
Dead By Aprile - I stayed for 2 songs , live sound was good. I’m not familiar with their studio albums, but good quality live band, but not my metal anyway.
ColdSpell - A band from Kiruna (place where none ever think to search for metal), a place where sun never shines during winter days and seems Odin himself doesn’t like be.
But such band, a classic hard rock (somehow studio stuff was way to melodic when I checked it) but live it was awesome but I only saw a small part of the band playing so
can’t say much about it
